Jellybush belongs to the Leptospermum group of plants, which is widely distributed in Australia and occupies a variety of habitats from coastal dunes to high mountain areas. Australian Medicinal Honey Pty, the source of this product, collects the strongest and most potent Jellybush Honey which comes from Leptospermum trees found growing in the pristine sub tropical coastal forests surrounding Byron Bay on the East Coast of Australia. This honey is tested for activity in certified New Zealand laboratories before packaging. This product offers strong anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties in a topical form for the management of minor burns, cuts and scrapes. Other products containing manuka honey have been approved by the FDA for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers and antibiotic-resistant wound infections (MRSA). Product is sterile and more effective than manuka honey creams because it contains only active Australian manuka honey. Sterility is important in honeys for wound healing because regular honeys contain microbial spores that may germinate under certain conditions. To clients that have bought the Comvita 18+ product from us before: Comvita no longer manufactures the product, and has released a replacement that is smaller, more expensive, and made with honey that is not rated for activity. Directions: For very minor wounds, scrapes and insect bites, apply a small amount with clean fingers. For use with clean non adhesive dressings, apply enough wound honey on the dressing to completely cover the wound site, leaving no air pockets between the dressing and the effected area. Change daily or more frequently if dressing becomes too wet. It is normal to experience a short-lasting stinging sensation after applying Antibacterial Honey to the wound site. Should pain, irritation, redness and swelling persist and the condition being treated does not appear to improve discontinue use, remove the dressing, wash the Antibacterial Honey off the wound site and consult your doctor.
